Responsibilities In this role you will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of the playout chains and live events for Eurosport and Nordic channels as well as supporting the base band portion of our 175+ Linear Discovery Cloud based channels across EMEA. Eurosport is currently in a new technology transformation for all countries in Europe based on on-prem and cloud architecture. The London and Paris teams manage the engineering and support of two playout centres and all markets in Europe for Eurosport. The Production Support Engineer is part of the Broadcast engineering team providing engineering and level 1 support for production, playout, MAM and Post-Prod platforms. This role is based in Chiswick Park, London working on a 24/7 shift pattern. The ideal candidate will be an organised and skilled Production Support Engineer, who represents the very best of our Broadcasting Profession. Qualifications Strong understanding of the broadcast chain Offers outstanding troubleshooting skills Demonstrates the ability to fault find from first principles. Excels in a high pressure and time critical broadcast production environment Extensive Broadcast technical background (IP video 2110, AES 67, NMOS, video and audio formats and codec…) Good understanding of IT technologies and the associated challenge (network, virtualization, storage, cloud services, security…) Capacity to work in a constantly changing environment Strong team member with self-motivation and consistent customer service The above requirements are desirable but not essential. Candidates with a strong technical background, drive to learn and aptitude will be considered as we offer extensive system training and development.
Production Bookings Supervisor
Overview The Production Booking Supervisor is responsible for booking and scheduling of the freelancer crews working on the live productions produced out of the London Technology hub. The facility comprises of Production and Sound Control Rooms, Commentary booths and Multi-Function Rooms which are operational 24 hours a day, 365 days a year You will be responsible for the crewing of the multiple live events, ensuring gallery crews are prepped, prepared and clear on the requirements of the live productions being broadcast. As one of the key communicators within the department you are responsible for ensuring that all relevant contributors have the latest information, and everyone is fully informed on the day’s live events. This role will require weekend and evening work, but predominantly standard office hours will apply. Flexibility is key and from time to time there may be a requirement to work on location internationally. Responsibilities Book, roster and schedule freelance crews. Assist production managers with finding required crew ensuring the right person is hired for the role. Manage Booking Coordinators daily duties, ensuring constant high standard of work and efficient and effective time management. Create supportive documentation for clients, production teams regarding crew availability. Liaise with clients, third party production companies and internal production teams to ensure the highest level of support is supplied from booking through to live delivery Support client’s requirements during the production process, ensuring resources and editorial aspirations are achievable. Work alongside Engineering, Technical and Audio Supervisors to ensure that live events set up and testing requirements are covered. Create, review and provide monthly budgeting feedback on production spend. Track Freelancers expenses and report actuals monthly to the Facility Production Manager and production clients Maintain a healthy and happy pool of freelancers. Contribute to the development of training plans to deliver staff and freelancer training requirements as necessary Identify key development opportunities for improved workflows, and enhanced reporting. Promote sharing of best practice and process change opportunities to support an efficient and effective department. Actively ensure compliance with all Health and Safety policies Other duties as required Qualifications Ability to work on multiple productions at any one time Experience of managing crewing for both studio and OB sporting shows Demonstrable working knowledge of end-to-end production procedures for live and pre-recorded sporting shows Experience of producing production documentation and communicating this clearly to a wide array of stakeholders Working knowledge of scheduling systems, rostering and shift working patterns Understanding of IR35 Has experience raising PO’s, tracking Invoices, budget maintenance Strong organisational and planning skills, able to manage conflicting demands to meet deadlines Ability to use own initiative with confidence, using judgment to escalate where necessary and can communicate their requirements and needs across the wider business Excellent verbal and written communication skills Pro-active in troubleshooting, problem solving and avoidance of issues
Overview We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Transmission Operator position at our Multi-Channel Playout Centre. Working in the Transmission department, this role is responsible for monitoring and ensuring quality standards at the London Technology Hub for our portfolio of Entertainment channels and Live Sports channels to the Nordic and UK regions. Responsibilities Monitor and ensure quality standards and playlist continuity for multiple TV-channels, both linear and digital, making sure playlists are running smoothly, in close partnership with our Programming Department Prepare playlists and TX suites and then execute live sporting events across our UK and Nordic portfolio of channels Proactively look for potential issues in playlists and content as amend or escalate as required Maintain first line support of services and equipment, troubleshooting, resolution and escalation, in close partnership with the Engineering Department Provide times and countdowns to external content providers for live events Handle all daily communication between channels and play out control, e.g. playlist deliveries/updates, live transmission preparation, graphic scheduling etc. Compile daily discrepancy reports on the service of the play out centre and the channels Be part of solving problems of all kinds and improving internal workflows Be trained in our broadcast system which is 100% based on the newest technology Ensure professional and safe play out of 25 channels to 5 countries at all times Qualifications Previous experience in the broadcasting area, ideally in transmission and ideally with live broadcasts Have technical experience of operating various broadcast equipment, ideally iTX and Aveco automation systems. Have operational experience with broadcast automation systems Have a desire to learn and expand your technical knowledge within the Television Broadcasting area Good communicator, coordinator and organiser Have good analytical skills Can work independently and under pressure in a multi- channel environment with close attention to detail and timing while being proactive, efficient and professional Have a positive attitude to problem solving Flexibility - have the ability to pick up new skills, learn new processes and workflows quickly Have experience in troubleshooting, escalating and logging any issues encountered Team player with an open mind Initiative taker, proactive and not afraid of putting your ideas forward Would like to work in an exciting environment Will be required to work on a shift rota with shifts covering all hours 24-7-365 including weekends and public holidays, as required
