Running from 12PM to 4PM, the event offered a valuable platform for female and non-binary STEM students and graduates to explore career opportunities, seek expert advice, and build professional networks in a welcoming virtual environment.

A Unique and Exclusive Networking Experience

At this event, attendees were able to reach career advancing methods from the comfort of home with the convenience to join and leave at the time that suits them best. The event allowed attendees to:

  • Chat live with employers
  • Apply directly for roles and programmes
  • Ask questions about career progression
  • Gain tailored advice on standing out in the engineering sector

Live Welcome Talk

The event opened with a live welcome talk from STEM Women, where Marketing & Events Director Sophie Chadwick delivered an overview of the event agenda and offered essential career and networking tips to help attendees make the most of the experience. This session set an inspiring tone for the day; attendees were encouraged to make the most of the virtual platform by preparing questions, exploring job opportunities, and introducing themselves to recruiters throughout the day.

Meet the Employers

Three leading employers hosted virtual booths, each offering a diverse range of roles and/or programmes within engineering:

  • BAE Systems – One of the world’s leading defence, aerospace, and security companies, showcasing a wide range of graduate roles and internships across engineering disciplines.
  • AWE – Nuclear Security Technologies – Providing attendees insight into unique engineering challenges and critical defence work.
  • MI5, MI6 and GCHQ – The UK’s intelligence and security services joined forces to present exciting opportunities in technology and engineering for national security.

The virtual format enabled one-on-one interactions and real-time networking, creating a personalised and accessible experience for all attendees.

This event exemplified STEM Women’s ongoing commitment to supporting underrepresented groups in STEM. The STEM Women Virtual Engineering Careers Event offered a supportive space for attendees to make connections, learn from professionals, and take proactive steps toward their engineering careers. With its focused format and highly engaged employer presence, it successfully brought together future engineering talent and organisations committed to diversity and innovation.
