At STEM Women we love to bring talented students and graduates together with top employers in STEM. What better day than 14th February to find a career you love – and we certainly saw many fantastic new connections made at Edgbaston Stadium for the Birmingham STEM Women Graduate Careers Event. With 13 company stalls for attendees to visit, the bustling crowd of 284 students and graduates were able to spark professional connections in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics throughout the afternoon.

Diverse Talent

Drawing talent from universities across Birmingham, Loughborough, Leicester, Coventry, Warwick, and beyond, the event showcased a spectrum of STEM-related industries from consulting to technology, engineering to transport, and more!

Insights and Inspirations

The event kicked off with a warm welcome from STEM Women, setting the stage for an enlightening talk from AWE. Speaker Julie Symmonds from AWE offered personal insights into her journey from chemistry student to a career at AWE.

Liz Delaney, Director – Technical Management from Tecman, then provided a holistic overview of the company, highlighting the many benefits of working for an SME.

This was followed by a panel discussion and Q&A. The panellists discussed the importance of authenticity in leadership, recognising the qualities that women bring in leadership and the fundamental significance of identifying female role models in STEM.

CV clinic

The STEM Women recruitment team were on hand to offer CV advice and guidance to attendees with CV clinic appointments. We spoke to over 70 students and graduates to offer top tips for a great STEM CV!

Where Connections Flourish

Throughout the day, attendees were able to forge meaningful connections and explore opportunities with the exhibiting employers in the networking space.
