On Wednesday 6th December, STEM Women hosted an exciting insight event with Assystem, one of the world’s leading independent nuclear engineering companies.  67 handpicked final year students from Engineering and Business disciplines signed up for this fascinating insight into the nuclear industry, and found out all about the exclusive career opportunities from the recruitment team.

Meeting the team

The team at Assystem offered a quick succession of presentations covering their industry and company culture, the projects that the company work on, the people who make these projects possible, and the ways in which Assystem are supporting inclusivity in their industry.

The Graduate Programme

Assystem’s Early Careers Lead, Scott Riley, shared insights into the 2-year graduate programme, Switch to Grow, and shared the recruitment timeline. Company representatives also answered questions from the audience and helped debunk any myths about the industry.

Graduate Panel Discussion

STEM Women then facilitated a live panel discussion, where attendees heard from three graduates, Meg, Kallum and Victoria, who spoke about their roles, their insights and experiences of the graduate programme, and the exciting projects they are currently working on.

Live networking

The final part of the event offered a chance for attendees to use the knowledge they had learnt throughout the afternoon to begin networking with the team and joining breakout sessions to chat with the recruiters.  In these chats, attendees received exclusive tips on the interview process, the skills Assystem are looking for and how to make applications stand out from the crowd.
