STEM Women Success Stories – ASC
STEM Women Success Stories – ASC
ASC built the country’s Collins Class submarines, sustains them, is delivering their Life of Type Extension, and has been selected by the Australian Government to sustain and jointly build nuclear-powered submarines in Australia. In their graduate roles, ASC offers the opportunity to grow in a flexible environment, offering security and work/life balance.
ASC in Australia

In March this year, ASC attended all 6 events across our Australia 2026 Careers Roadshow, exhibiting in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide & Canberra. Deana Webber (Recruitment Manager – Early Careers) shares ASC’s experience with STEM Women Events.
“STEM Women events have been a great experience. We’ve had the opportunity to meet talented and engaged students, have meaningful conversations about careers at ASC, and connect with women who are excited about building a future in STEM.”
At a STEM Women Event, employers can expect to meet female students & graduates from STEM disciples sourced by our specialist team. Our events are about connecting women with inspirational employers at the early career stage to help them kickstart their futures in STEM fields from the start. ASC make a great example of this and connect with hundreds of attendees at our events.
“ASC has opportunities across a wide range of disciplines, so we were looking to connect with students who were curious about where a career in STEM could take them. We enjoyed meeting people who were eager to learn, ask questions and explore the diverse pathways available at ASC.”

Impactful Results
“Based on our application data, we’ve received 38 applications from STEM Women events over the past two years, resulting in four successful hires. As applicants can only select one event source, we know the impact of STEM Women is likely even greater than our data reflects.”
ASC have found that attending STEM Women events across Australia create positive outcomes for them, specifically across engineering disciplines, where women have one of the lowest representation rates nationally.
“The successful hires have been across our undergraduate and graduate engineering programs.”

Exhibiting at an event is a great opportunity to increase or establish brand awareness amongst the next generation of women in STEM.
“The events have been a great way to build connections with female STEM students, increase awareness of the diverse careers available at ASC, and encourage students to consider us as a future employer.”
Recognising Value
As well as this, ASC recognise that the events are a great way to expand connections across STEM Women’s talent network, introduce the company and their roles to both new and familiar candidates.
“STEM Women events play an important role in helping us connect with talented women who may not have otherwise considered a career at ASC. As a WORK180 Endorsed Employer, we’re committed to fostering an inclusive workplace where women can thrive and discover a deeper purpose.”

ASC are looking forward to joining STEM Women at more events in the future to meet more enthusiastic students and further strengthen their connections in our growing network of candidates in Australia.
“We’ve had great experience at STEM Women events and look forward to continuing to build connections with the next generation of STEM talent.”
A Message to Employers
To other employers considering exhibiting at a STEM Women event, ASC says:
“If connecting with future STEM talent is a priority for your organisation, it’s a worthwhile opportunity. We’ve enjoyed meeting students, sharing our career opportunities and building new connections.”
“Thank you to STEM Women team for creating opportunities for employers and students to connect.”
