What is a STEM Women Hybrid Event? (For Attendees)

May 19, 2022 Events 5 minutes read

This year, we will be running a mixture of event types which will include fully virtual events, traditional in-person fairs, and our new hybrid events! But what is a STEM Women Hybrid Event, how does it work and what do attendees need to know before attending?

Let’s take a look…

What is a STEM Women hybrid event?

Hybrid careers events combine elements from an in-person event and a virtual event. At a STEM Women hybrid event, attendees will have the option to attend in-person at our chosen venue, online using the virtual events platform, or a combination of the two!

If attendees are local to the venue, they are encouraged to attend the physical event to network with employers face-to-face, watch presentations live in the venue and browse company stalls. Physical event attendees can also still log on to the event platform to apply for jobs and network with employers who are only attending online.

For attendees who are based further away, the online aspect of the event will allow them to log in to the event, network online, browse all company stalls and watch the live talks via their device from home.

Just like all STEM Women events, our hybrid events are targeted towards attendees who identify as women or non-binary and are studying or have just graduated from a STEM related subject at university.

How does the hybrid event work?

All employers exhibiting at the event will take part in the online on our virtual events platform. A number of these employers will also attend the physical half of this event and will be present in the venue to network from their stalls.

Our speaker sessions and Q&A will take place live at the venue and will be streamed onto our virtual events platform to be viewed in the ‘Live Presentations’ area.

Attendees who are taking part in the online-only part of the event will log into our platform on the event day just like one of our virtual events. They will be able to network with all exhibiting employers, browse company stalls, apply for jobs, and watch live employer presentations.

For attendees taking part in the physical part of the event, there will be a selection of employers at the physical event, ready to network and answer any questions, plus attendees can access all exhibiting employers on their devices via the online platform. Attendees at the venue will also be able to watch the presentations face-to-face or via their device if the hall is full.

Do I need to bring anything to the in-person event?

If you are attending the physical part of the event, you’ll need a mobile, laptop, or tablet to access the virtual half of the event. Whilst in the venue, you will be able to log in to the virtual platform to network with additional employers, apply for jobs and watch the live talks if we have reached capacity in the hall.
