What We Do
We build, acquire, lease-up, and operate telecommunications towers that can accommodate and power the needs of multiple tenants. Our tenants are the major Mobile Network Operators (MNOs), and we serve them across nine high-growth markets (eight in Africa and Oman in the Middle East). Overview
Reporting to the Group Finance Director, you will play a key role in own our invoicing operations end-to-end, lead a high-performing team, and be the product owner for our billing platform, iBill.
Role Responsibilities
As a Head of Commercial Finance, you will be responsible for:
- Own the billing cycle for our MNO customers across multiple operating companies – ensuring accurate, timely, invoices and strong, auditable controls.
- Be the iBill product owner – maintain, update and develop the platform; translate business needs into specs, manage the change roadmap, oversee UAT and releases, and drive data integrity.
- Partner with Commercial – work closely with Sales/Account Management, Group Commercial and Revenue Assurance and Legal to ensure contract terms (pricing, indexation, pass-throughs, service credits, new products) are embedded and executed flawlessly.
- Safeguard revenue – apply IFRS 15 principles, own revenue recognition and cut-off for billed services, and collaborate with Group Finance and Group Commercial on month-end, audits and controls.
- Collections management & credit control: Although our operating companies are responsible for collections, lead Group-wide partnering to:
- Run monthly Collections Reviews/Credit Committees with OpCos and Commercial;
- Track and challenge action plans for aged debt and disputes.
- Escalate key customer issues and coordinate senior interventions.
- Own the Credit Control output/reporting pack and build dashboards that highlight risk, trends and opportunities.
- Provide forward-looking cash collections forecasts, customer risk assessments, dispute root-cause analytics, and commercial recommendations to accelerate cash.
- Lead & develop a team – coach and develop the managers/analysts in our Billing and Revenue team; set clear KPIs, develop and enhance processes, and foster continuous improvement.
- Continuously improve – standardise workflows across markets, automate reconciliations, reduce manual touchpoints, and improve insight with dashboards/analytics.
- Stakeholder management – act as the point person for billing queries and disputes, working with Commercial, and local Finance and Sales teams to resolve issues quickly.
Requirements for the Role
To succeed in this role, you will:
- A recognised UK accounting qualification (e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) is essential.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, with a solid understanding of IFRS.
- Excellent business partnering, communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels.
- Proven post-qualification experience in a senior finance role, ideally within a complex, multi-entity or international environment.
- Experience in leading or supporting finance transformation and/or digitalisation initiatives is highly desirable, including systems development and data visualization, analytics, and interactive dashboards using Microsoft Power BI/Tableau.
- Experience with ERP systems (e.g. SAP) and advanced Excel skills.
