At FCDO Services (formerly known as FCO Services), we provide secure construction, digital and logistics services to all sorts of government-level customers, including the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. Our projects are as impressive as they are wide-ranging: anything from making earthquake repairs at an embassy to ensuring government teams have secure IT infrastructure.
Right now, we’re looking for a Problem Manager to come in and hit the ground running as part of our Shared Operations team. It’s about resolving emerging and recurring technical problems, but with incredible scope and scale. After all, you’ll be helping government customers with complex, exacting needs – and you’ll be doing work that’s critical to the nation.
Solve complex technical problems with international impact
Gathering insights from teams such as the 24/7 Service Desk or our Technical Resolvers, you’ll bring improvements that help prevent IT incidents from happening, such as regular service outages. It’ll see you solve complex problems, digging deep into the technical work we’ve done and suggesting alternative ideas or constructive changes that could be made. Not only that, you’ll get to grips with the root cause of any incidents, running in-depth and targeted investigations that shed light on ways we can improve our services.
It goes without saying that we’ll rely on your technical know-how and astute analysis, but we’ll also turn to you as the main point of contact for all problem management processes. That means you need to be comfortable collaborating closely with others, such as Major Incident Managers, to create reports, prioritise tasks and find swift, spot-on solutions.

What’s more, you’ll feel at home delivering accurate, influential recommendations to senior leaders, customers, suppliers and other government departments. It’s all part of how you’ll uphold our customer service promise – to be reliable, responsive and build relationships.
Alongside excellent communication skills, you’ll need A Levels (or equivalent qualifications or work experience) in Computer Science, Business Studies, or any STEM subject. Plus, we look for an ITIL v3 Foundation qualification, or relevant experience.
